The north-eastern frontiers of Pakistan also referred to as Bam-e-Duniya Persian word for “Roof of the world”. The continental collision of the three great mountain ranges, the Himalaya, the Karakoram, and the Hindukush in the north of Pakistan gave birth to the thickest cluster of the highest peaks and largest glaciers on Earth. For many, these ranges meant untamed beauty, spiritual inspiration, mysterious legends, high adventure, and personal challenge. To all, it has meant the highest mountain ranges on Earth. All these mountain ranges stretches over 4000 km in length, and it contains all of the world’s 14 peaks over 8000 metres with as many as 5 peaks are in Pakistan in addition to 29 over 7500 metres and 108 over 7000 metres. Tourists find inspiration and renewal among the soaring peaks; every year around 80 plus mountaineering expeditions climb and explore these greatest concentration of lofty peaks on earth.

These mountains offer “rock climbing”, “ice climbing”, and other sports adventures like “skiing” etc. Trango towers and few other peaks are especially famous for rock-climbing.

Rock Climbing:
Pakistan though known for high-altitude climbing yet equally offers rock climbing adventures. Trango Towers also known as “Trango group of mountains” in Baltoro region is famous for rock climbing. Besides, Kondus sub-valley in Khaplu region, Tsaraqsa sub-valley in Hushe, Nangma sub-valley in Kande also offers good opportunities for rock climbers. There are other numerous unnamed and unexplored sites in the Karakoram, Himalaya, and Hindukush ranges fit and ideal for rock climbing.

Ice Climbing:
There are plenty of explored and unexplored ice-climbing sites in the Karakoram, Himalaya, and Hindukush ranges in the north of Pakistan. Tourists interested in ice climbing both in summer and winter can enjoy this sports as per their choices.
